Thrive B’yachad (Together)

The Dupree is more than a place—it’s a shared promise: to strengthen Jewish identity, deepen connection, and build a community where Jewish life thrives, together.

The Spark That Inspired Action

“The real antidote to antisemitism is Jewish thriving. But that isn’t the same as thriving Jews.

Thriving Jews are what we have now: Jews who are generally doing quite well when it comes to the careers they have chosen, the esteem in which they are held in their professions and communities, the power and influence they enjoy, the lives they lead. It is an individual ideal, in which thriving is central, Jewishness incidental.

Jewish thriving, on the other hand, is a collective ideal. It is a flourishing, secure, and morally self-confident State of Israel. It is a Diaspora that is proud of and knowledgeable about its own heritage. It is robust attendance at synagogue services and Shabbat dinners and Jewish cultural events. It is the desire to marry a fellow Jew (or an eager convert) and to raise children Jewishly. It is the conviction among all Jews, whatever their level of observance, that their Jewishness is the most cherished element of their identity, a precious inheritance from their forebears and a priceless bequest to their posterity.”

10-1

This excerpt from a 2023 article by SAPIR Journal editor-in-chief Bret Stephens inspired Jewish Atlanta leaders to imagine a new kind of Jewish hub rooted in learning, connection, and action.

We can’t control others. We can only control ourselves.

From the beginning, The Dupree’s leadership believed in nurturing a Jewish community that is confident, connected, and proud.

This conviction, rooted in love for our people and hope for our future, motivated leaders to search for a home in Sandy Springs and launched the conversations that would bring The Dupree to life.

Our Commitment to You

Long before the doors opened, leaders at The Dupree were clear: this would be a place grounded in timeless Jewish values. One of their very first steps was identifying three core commitments that now shape every program and experience at The Dupree.

Ahavat Israel - Love For Israel
Ahavat Israel is a commitment to the past, present and future of the Jewish people and Zionism, the belief in the Jewish people's historic right to have a state in the land of Israel. This commitment calls us to support the flourishing of the Jewish people and the security of Israel as a sovereign state.

Accordingly, The Dupree will not host programs, meetings, events, or rent space to organizations, programs, or speakers that deny Israel’s right to exist, call for its eradication, or employ delegitimizing rhetoric. This includes but is not limited to: calls for a Palestinian homeland “from the river to the sea,” use of the term “nakba” to negate Israel’s existence, framing Israel as a colonial or apartheid state, accusing Israel of war crimes absent official findings by international courts, calling for a global intifada, or any other statements reasonably understood as antisemitic or anti-Zionist by The Dupree. We will host programs that express concern for civilians in both Israel and Gaza, call for peace, support humanitarian assistance, or advocate political solutions such as a two-state outcome, when framed in a manner consistent with Israel’s legitimacy and Jewish safety.
Klal Yisrael - The Unity Of The Jewish People
Klal Yisrael is the unity of the Jewish people: making our activities as accessible as possible to the broadest scope of the Jewish community. This value affirms that Jews of every denomination and background share a common destiny and deserve a place in our communal life.

Unity, however, does not extend to those who seek to divide or delegitimize. The Dupree will not host groups or individuals who promote division within the Jewish community, exclude Jews based on their Zionism, denomination, or religious practice, or align with antisemitic coalitions or movements that deny Jewish peoplehood or connection to Israel. Our commitment to Klal Yisrael ensures inclusion and respect while drawing a clear boundary against rhetoric and partnerships that fracture Jewish unity or lend support to antisemitism.
Elu V'Elu - Multiple Truths
Elu V’elu reflects an understanding that there are multiple approaches to Jewish thought, belief, and practice that have merit, and we gain from challenging and being challenged by those with other perspectives. We embrace this principle as a source of strength, learning, and vitality in Jewish life.

This commitment to diversity of thought does not extend to rhetoric that undermines Jewish survival or Israel’s legitimacy. The Dupree will not host events or speakers that deny Israel’s right to exist, promote antisemitic narratives, or frame Israel as a colonial or apartheid state. While we value robust debate and differing perspectives, these must remain within the bounds of affirming Jewish peoplehood and Israel’s legitimacy as the Jewish state.

Whatever experience brings you here, from a conversational lunch-and-learn to a thought-provoking speaker, you can trust these values will shape your journey.

You Shape What Comes Next

The Dupree was built on shared values and a bold vision. Its future depends on you.

Help us shape The Dupree’s contribution to Atlanta. Tell us what you love, what you'd like to see, and how we can continue building a Jewish Atlanta that thrives—b’yachad (together).
